Product Description
After 15 years in practice in Beverly Hills, Dr Ryan has decided to take things into his own hands and create a skin care line like no other. DR FRANK RYAN Skin Care does not rely on the latest -- in other words unproven -- ingredients. On the contrary, Dr. Ryan has developed a line of skin care products based on time-tested -- sometimes ancient -- ingredients.
Dr. Ryan said, "The pattern for the last several years is for skin care manufacturers to throw in every ingredient but the kitchen sink. Honestly, some of the ingredients that are being incorporated into skin care lines today are completely worthless. It's all about hype and marketing."
Instead, Dr. Ryan decided to take a back-to-basics approach. He said, "There are many ingredients that were first shown to be effective thousands of years ago. Instead of reinventing the wheel, I felt that we should take a look at what some ancient peoples' used for beauty and wellness." This philosophy, along with expertise resulting from fifteen years of clinical practice and research, was the inspiration for DR FRANK RYAN Skin Care.
When it came to the ancient ingredients, the obvious source was the native Americans who populated Malibu thousands of years ago and still populate it today -- the Chumash Indians. Dr. Ryan explains, "I had developed an interest in the Chumash culture since my ranch is located in Chumash territory in Malibu.
One spring day several years ago, as I was hiking through all of the beautiful native plants of the chaparral, it occurred to me that I should capitalize on both the abundant plants of Malibu and the ancient wisdom of the Chumash."
"I began an exhaustive study of the plant species that make up the chaparral: sage, chamise, mugwort, buckwheat, elderberry, coffee berry, cottonwood -- these were just a few of the plants that were used for medicinal purposes." A number of these plants native to Malibu's chaparral became key ingredients in the skin care line.
Dr. Ryan looked to his surgical practice for additional inspiration -- he also wanted to draw from his fifteen years of practicing plastic surgery in the epicenter of beauty -- Beverly Hills California. "For fifteen years, I have been giving Arnica Montana to my surgical patients to reduce inflammation, bruising and swelling after surgery. I also routinely recommend Aloe Vera to soothe the skin after laser procedures and chemical peels. I wanted to incorporate these ingredients as well."
After nearly three years of personally developing and perfecting the line, the DR FRANK RYAN Skin Care line was introduced in 2009. "I didn't want to just call a private label skin care manufacturer and ask them to slap my name on some of their pre-existing generic products -- that's what 99% of the doctor's skin care lines do. "I needed to put my blood, sweat and tears into this line and make it my own!"
